Darren Aronofsky is an American Film director, screenwriter and film producer from Brooklyn, New York. He's directed movies like "The Fountain" featuring Hugh Jackman as well as "The Wrestler" which was winner of the 2008 Golden Lion Award.
My personal favorite Aronofsky film is the motion picture rendition of Hubert Selby's award winning novel "Requiem for a Dream" co-starring Marlon Wayans.
Aronofsky delivered a relentless and disturbing movie of hopes and dreams shattered and lives laid waste by drug addiction. The film was a clinical depiction of the depths to which some people will sink to in the hope of attaining their dreams. The film premiered at the 2000 Cannes Film Festival and was greeted by a 13 minute standing ovation.
